1. ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula – Best Motherboard For RTX 3070
Get to the next level of the X570 motherboard with this part. For less than $ 600 you get an absolute monster in front of the race number. The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula is the flagship of the ASUS X570 motherboards and undoubtedly one of the highest quality AM4 motherboards from Asus.
The Formula competes with the best of the best and offers a wide variety of features for enthusiasts. For example, custom water cooling can be integrated into the VRM heatsink and even liquid nitrogen can be used to cool the CPU (via LN2 mode).
However, we want to point out that there are many similarities to the Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi), which is around $ 150 cheaper. So why buy this board and not the hero? Mainly for the aesthetics, the support of water cooling and the elegant LiveDash OLED display.
The 1.3-inch OLED LiveDash screen can display useful information such as voltage regulation and error codes for the CPU, memory, or graphics card. This is useful for quick troubleshooting, but you can also upload your custom logos or animations and display them on the screen. Good trick.
Compared to the Hero above, the Formula also has a solid steel rear plate that reinforces the circuit board to prevent bending and offers more stability. You’ll also find metal-reinforced PCIe slots here.
But cooling is the most important feature of the Formula board: an EK CrossChill III hybrid cooler that covers the VRM with a combined water block and heat sink.
You can attach the part to your own custom or use it as is with an air cooling solution. According to ASUS, the new design also offers wider copper channels and a large copper surface for better heat transfer.
Apart from the things mentioned, it can be compared to the Hero in terms of features (VRM, USB ports, LAN and WiFi controllers, M.2 slots, SATA, etc.).
Still, Formula VIII is very expensive, but it has a lot to offer. The overclocking features such as the Retry and Safeboot buttons as well as the LN2 switch are excellent, the VRM uses very high-quality components, and the UEFI is packed with many features (including user-defined profiles for memory overclocking). .
So if you’re looking for a high-end X570 motherboard with a VRM water block, high-end VRM, and lots of special features, check out the Crosshair VIII formula. Otherwise, you can get the cheapest hero if these features don’t tell you anything.

5. ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 – Best Motherboard for RTX 3070 With Wifi 6
The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 is one of the cheapest X570 boards on the market and a clear recommendation for bargain hunters (if that can be said for X570 boards!).
The X570 Phantom Gaming 4 is excellent value for money with a combination of high-quality components and a simple but effective design.
The overall design consists of a black and gray circuit board with an actively cooled black and gray chipset heatsink and a gray power supply heatsink that keeps the VCore CPU area cool. So if you don’t like gray, this is probably not your board.
It also uses a 10-phase power supply with a single 8-pin 12V ATX CPU power input. Additionally, DDR4-4066 memory is supported with four available slots and a maximum of 64GB.
The audio codec only has the simplified ALC-1200, the LAN is controlled via a 1 Gigabit Ethernet port. Definitely a beginner board, but by no means bad.

AX Wi-Fi (Mi-Mo included) and Bluetooth 5.1 are also in the game.
This carefully finished motherboard is based on the Z490 Express chipset designed for the latest iteration of Intel processors (10th generation). Great performance can be seen in the integration of built-in I / O protection, VRM cooler, and dual-level cooling (for M.2 drive).
We also notice more energy savings. With all this information, we can say that it is designed for performance, ideal to minimize the risk of lag during your gaming sessions.
Cooling is also thought in this direction. The Z490 I-Gaming is in fact compatible with AIO water cooling solutions, PWM fans and even allows their management through dedicated software. This element is more than important in compact configurations where the heat generating components are less widely spaced.
In addition to that, you can customize it to your liking by means of the RGB LEDs that compose it. So you can enhance the style of your computer or personalize it with multiple colors (a dozen in all).
In conclusion, this motherboard gives you great performance, without overheating and in style. If you are a gamer or just looking for good responsiveness, this motherboard gives you some reliability.
In view of its mini-ITX format, it is primarily intended for compact configurations. Its version from AMD is on the same level and offers similar performance.
7. MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk – Best Gaming Motherboard for RTX 3070
MSI’s Tomahawk name has become synonymous with incredible value for money, and that doesn’t change with their Z490 range! The MAG Z490 Tomahawk is equipped with quality components, excellent VRMs and dual LAN, at an economical price.
The VRMs are pretty well built and should be able to handle even the 10700K without too much trouble. While it can theoretically handle the 10900K too, I’m not comfortable recommending it until I’ve had a chance to test the performance myself.
You really don’t want to buy a $ 500+ processor, put an expensive fan on it, and then find out that your motherboard is slowing it down.
Like most of the Z490 motherboards we’ve covered here, the Tomahawk also offers two M.2 slots for adding quick storage to your system. The lack of a third full-length PCI-E slot shouldn’t make much of a difference to buyers targeting the budget card category.
The fact that MSI offers a dual LAN motherboard (Realtek 2.5 GbE and Intel Gigabit) at this price is enough to set it apart from the competition.
But add to that the build quality, rugged VRMs, and no compromises on important features – you get a motherboard that will be a great companion to most 10th Gen Intel processors.
8. MSI Z490 MEG Unify ATX – Best Micro ATX Motherboard for RTX 3070
The Unify name seems to have become synonymous with value and quality, whether you choose builds from Intel or AMD. It outperforms many other competitors in its price range and is sure to deliver a sublime overclocking experience on the Core i9 10900K.
The regularly spaced PCI-E slots make Unify an excellent choice even for workstations that require graphics card processing.
While the Intel platform is not the best choice for business applications, some workloads prefer Intel to AMD. It’s also not too strange for someone to build a combined working setup and renderer around the i9 10900K core.
The full-length PCI-E slots work in a x8 / x8 / x4 configuration when you fill all three. There are three M.2 slots for adding a large amount of high-speed storage. However, keep in mind that some SATA ports will be disabled if you fill all three of these slots.
For gamers, this motherboard is almost certainly over the top. In other words, unless you want to get the best possible motherboard to make sure your processor is running at peak performance without worrying about other factors that could be holding you back.
A busy rear entrance / exit makes me and many others happy. You would think that most motherboards in the higher price category don’t skimp on this part of the motherboard, but there are some motherboards that will surprise you.
While the motherboard comes with a Realtek 2.5GbE LAN, WiFi 6 support, and Bluetooth 5.1 support, the lack of dual LAN at this price is a bit annoying.
If you want to access a better network other than Thunderbolt, I recommend looking for the Gigabyte Z490 Vision D instead.
9. GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS PRO AX – Best Budget Motherboard for RTX 3070
Gigabyte’s Z490 motherboard shines with above-average performance and a 2.5G LAN. Gigabyte is the only manufacturer to have installed an additional full M.2 slot (4.0), which cannot be used with Comet CPUs. Lake.
There are also PCI Express 4.0 compliant components in the data paths of both GPU slots. With the Aorus Pro, Gigabyte is limited to “just” twelve voltage converter phases, but cools them with a highly praised thin heat sink. The effect of which is unfortunately limited by the (removable) plastic cover.
Gigabyte actually deserved praise for the sensible resource allocation, but a × 1 slot permanently covered by dual-slot graphics cards and limiting the front Type-C header to USB 3.0 lowers the balance, but still takes it to second place in our ranking and, in addition, the “price-performance winner” seal.
10. ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490 – Best Enthusiast Motherboard for RTX 3070
For a budget of less than 400 euros, the Asus Rog Maximus Hero XII Wifi motherboard is one of the two best to benefit from the Z490 chipset. It costs around 390 euros.
Tailored for gaming, this motherboard offers connectors for water cooling, as well as a dual M.2 radiator and plenty of fan headers. At the connection level, it has two LAN ports, one 1Gb and the other 5Gb. Not to mention Wifi 6 accompanied by Bluetooth 5.1. It is also suitable for users who wish to practice overlocking.
Its rear panel also incorporates an HDMI 1.4b port that allows you to enjoy a resolution of 4096 x 2160 up to 30Hz, on your monitor.
If you are building a brand new gaming PC we suggest you consider PCIe 4.0, we would go for AMD as their Ryzen 3000 processors are compatible with these on X570 and B550 motherboards . In that case, ASUS ROG Strix X570-E is overall the best motherboard equipped with your requirements for a capable PC.
You just need to make sure you are using a high-end RTX 3070 CPU. Otherwise, you may also see issues like bottlenecks with a high-end GPU like this one.
